Senior Project Engineer II

Position summary:
Responsible for working between the design, preconstruction and construction teams to ensure specification compliance and proper material selection. This includes involvement in the pre-job planning and the execution of the work as well as successful project close-out.

Duties include:

  • Provide on-site technical support to design & construction team and attend technical walkdowns.
  • Understand Process design, review & interpret client specifications & technical information from datasheets, read process flow diagrams (PFDs) and process & Instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Provide process design consultation, and attend P&ID, skid and equipment design meetings.
  • Process P&ID development using AutoCAD as required, 3D model reviews using Navisworks and clash detection using Revit or BIM.
  • Review piping system design for process & clean utilities and isometric drawings to verify engineering aspects and completeness before issuing for construction.
  • Work out technical RFIs & detail submittals for specialty valves, instruments, equipment & skids.
  • Assist in the preparation of project estimates, change orders & proposals.
  • Review overall schedule, assist in manpower planning, tracking daily progress & productivity to drive profitability.
  • Direct interaction with DECCO clients, engineers, suppliers & vendors.
  • Control DECCO’s risk exposure and exhibit DECCO’s core values.
  • Utilize DECCO Systems and comply with DECCO’s construction standards.
  • Follow cGMP Documentation practices in accordance with Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulation Chapter 1 – Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
  • Valves, instruments, piping material & equipment procurement.
  • Maintain and update engineering documents such as turnover books and technical manuals for process equipment.
  • Frequent trips to heavy industrial work zones.

Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering plus 3 years of relevant experience.
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering plus 5 years of relevant experience.

Total experience must include:
6 months of experience with: ASME BPE standards; engineering change control; Bio-pharmaceutical upstream and downstream processes; sterile packaging & ISO 5 to 8 certified clean rooms along with clean utilities like water for injections; clean steam; process gases; NaOH, NaCl, CIP100 & CIP200; Navisworks; and Revit or BIM; plus 1 year of experience with AutoCAD.

Occasional telecommuting is possible.
