2008 March DECCO Apprentice Wins Gold at National Crafts Champtionships Precision, skill, knowledge, and efficiency in pipefitting won the gold for Mike Basch at this year’s National Craft Championships at the Associated Builders and Contractors’ National Convention in Puerto Rico. Basch, a 4th year pipefitter apprentice from DECCO, Inc. was one of 136 tradesmen and women who competed for the coveted award. The Greater Lowell Tech (Andover MA) graduate has been employed at DECCO since 2004. In addition to on-site experience and training at ABC’s Gould Institute pipefitting program, Basch’s preparation for the event included months of special training and study from DECCO’s past-participants in the event- Mark Perior (National silver medal), Ryan Clancy (National gold medal), and Tim Pellerin (MA State Champion). The annual two-day competition is open to apprentices from the more than 24,000 member companies of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) in specialties including carpentry, welding, sheet metal, electrical, and HVAC. The national organization is dedicated to promoting free enterprise in the construction industry. DECCO, a Brookline NH-based company, is one of New England’s premier merit shop mechanical contractors, specializing in critical process and power systems for multiple industries, including biopharm and semiconductor.
